The questions we all ask ourselves at one point; Why am I here? What's my purpose? And we ponder and search and some of us can't seem to find a purpose big enough, because it is believed that it has to be something heroic, ambitious and accomplishing. But, what does that really mean, and more specifically, what does that mean to you? Your sense of accomplishment and mine may not be the same, and we each can feel accomplished doing the total opposite things.
At one point, I stressed about finding my purpose, after all I have so much more to give and experience. We are told to do what we love and we'll find our purpose, the "do what makes you happy" bit. Well, I like to do a lot of things, the creative field makes me happy, but so does teaching others and caring for people. Like I said, there is much I like to do.
It is at a time of not searching for anything that it dawned on me, my main purpose on this planet at this time is to be mySelf, the authentic Self without some grand outcome that we tend to want to present and attach ourselves to. My purpose is to be the loving Self every moment in time, extend compassion, wisdom, balance and contribute all that's necessary to create a better place around me. Does that mean I will never fail? No. But, the point is to strive to do your best, learn and move on.
You don't have to have a fancy work title, as a title doesn't have to define your purpose, your actions do, with or without the title. When we leave this planet, people remember how we treated others and how much of their lives we touched. Everything we do is a teaching AND learning moment for us and others, that includes the good and bad, so for me it's important to try to lead by example as much as I can. Lead in such a way that I will leave this place better than I found it. No one says it will be easy, and where's the fun in that anyway?
The trick is to live in the moment and to not seek outside yourself, to not pass judgment, to stop thinking so much. I'm not saying I have it all figured out, but I have experienced that once you make that decision to do differently, things around you start to align to support you and it gets easier, life gets easier. We are just here to play a role, it's up to you how to perform yours. Will life lead me to a more specific purpose later on? I don't know and I don't concern myself with that right now, everything happens in due time and what we do now prepares us for it.
All my love,
